Depression is more common today than ever before. It has been recognized that food plays a significant role in our mental health. Large, reputable clinical trials found that diet may dictate not only our physical health, but also our psychological health. Healthy eating patterns are shown to lead to less mental health disturbances, improvement in depressive symptoms and overall wellbeing.
The Nurses’ Health Study and the Women’s Health Initiative confirmed the association between diet and mental health. The International Journal of Obesity, published a study which demonstrated associations between obesity, depression and dietary factors.
